I Love ACC B-Ball
This really is my blog, too. I promise.
So I was thinking the other night about how much ACC basketball I've had the privilege of witnessing in person over the years. It's pretty mind-boggling to remember some of the games that were just games at the time... but later became some pretty awesome I-can-trump-everyone-at-the-water-cooler memories. For instance, did you know that I was in attendance for Dean Smith's last win? Yep... Syracuse, NY... March, 1997 (Ten years ago??!! TEN?? I'm old.)... vs. Louisville. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on that one, but I'm pretty sure I'm not, 'cause I think the Heels lost to Arizona in the next game (Final Four) because someone somewhere probably watched the game on the wrong television in the wrong room. Anyway...
Since they were the last opponent, I went back and found some old UNC/Wake box scores from the prime of my college days. Oh, look: there's one now...

Almost 11 years ago to the day. I was there. I saw future NBA All-Stars Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison, and Tim Duncan all on one floor, all at one time. Shouldn't I have taken a little more time to relish the experience? Nah. I had better things to do back then, right? Those were good times. I know the Hardwood 'Heels of today are as loved by their peers as Wallace/Stackhouse/McInnis/Carter/Jamison/et al were back in my day. I just hope those students know how to grab a memory and hold on forever.
In other news, Patches the Cat found a way onto the top of the kitchen cabinets last night. Many photos were taken. Some will be posted here soon.
